Sarzana

A borderland, a magical place with its fortresses and narrow streets, Sarzana is also one of the capitals of antiques and one of the most established locations for music and home to the famous Festival of the Mind in late August. Situated in the "heart" of Lunigiana, and its main town, Sarzana is an ancient medieval village, which was transformed in the second half of the fifteenth century, according to the canons of Renaissance architecture. The city preserves two castles, the Firmafede fortress, of Pisan origin, and the Fortress of Sarzanello, an ancient episcopal residence.
